Dr. Belkin attended Amherst college and went on to medical school at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed general surgery residency training at the Hartford Hospital/University of Connecticut Surgical Residency Program. He served as the Smithwick Vascular Surgery Research Fellow at Boston University School of Medicine and trained at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as the John Homans Fellow in Vascular Surgery under Dr. John Mannick. Dr. Belkin served for three years as an assistant professor of surgery at the New England Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine before returning to the Brigham.
At the Brigham, he served as program director in general surgery and vascular surgery. He was appointed chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in 2001. Dr. Belkin’s career has been focused on tertiary clinical care of vascular surgery patients, clinical research and on the education of residents and fellows in vascular surgery.
