Mohamad Hussain, MD, PhD, RPVI
Associate Surgeon, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
Dr. Hussain graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a BSc in medical sciences. He obtained his medical degree from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. He completed a vascular surgery residency and a PhD in clinical epidemiology and health services research through the Surgeon Scientist Training Program at the University of Toronto. He also completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at the Brigham.
Dr. Hussain has over 50 manuscript publications in journals such as Circulation, J Am Coll Cardiol, and JAMA Surgery and over 70 research presentations/published abstracts. He has received several research grants/awards from institutions such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the European Society for Cardiology (ESC). He is also a dedicated teacher committed to the learning of trainees. He has taught ATLS to over 400 physicians in 30 courses and was honored with an ATLS teaching award.
Dr. Hussain’s research interests include the study of vascular diseases using observational epidemiology, health services research, prospective clinical trials and knowledge translation. He also has a special clinical interest in thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.
